Tanuja’s love of science was what compelled her to earn her PhD in the field of immunology from Monash University. She excelled in her studies and went on to become Monash Malaysia’s first winner of the international Three Minute Thesis TM competition held in Perth. Upon graduation, Tanuja founded a startup called Lovesprk, Malaysia’s first dating concierge portal, which might have seemed like a massive departure from her field of study. Still, she believes that the years spent tenaciously working in the lab actually prepared her for entrepreneurship. One of the lessons that she learned was when her experiments failed, despite spending nearly 15 hours in the lab daily, she picked herself up and tried again until she succeeded. Currently, Tanuja leads a team at Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) that runs the Global Accelerator Program (GAP) - the largest accelerator program in Southeast Asia. Tanuja is passionate about helping startup founders realise their dreams, as she understands how challenging it can be to create a successful business.
